The Kimito Island Music Festival is a chamber music festival that is arranged annually on Kimito Island in the beautiful archipelago of southwestern Finland. The seven-day event brings talented musicians from Finland and abroad to an idyllic setting with interesting manor houses and a range of charming old churches in the middle of July. The programme ranges from beloved classics to brand new contemporary compositions.

The festival was founded in 1999 by two Finnish musicians, pianist Martti Rautio and violinist Katinka Korkeala, who both had a summer residence on Kimito Island. Katinka is still an artistic director. Her twin sister Sonja, also violinist, joined the festival in 2008 to share the position. The executive director is Jukka Mäkelä, who has run the festival since 2009.

Every year, the festival features a premiere of a Finnish composer’s latest work commissioned by the Kimito Island Music Festival.

We wish to welcome you all to the next year`s 2018 festival on July 9th - 15th!
